Do you need to be compliant with the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate? Are you currently just using BigRoad’s Mobile App? This is a great start, but you’re going to need BigRoad’s DashLink ELD by December 18, 2017 in order to be compliant!
First Texas, and now Florida! States are starting to mandate electronic logging devices for intrastate drivers. What does this mean for drivers who qualify for an exemption from the FMCSA’s ELD mandate? And could other states require ELDs in the future?
The ELD mandate has been controversial since it was announced in February 2015. Drivers and fleets have actively voiced their concerns about how the mandate will affect their operations. Since the ELD mandate came into effect on December 18, 2017, several interest groups have requested exemptions, or extensions, from the FMCSA. Read on to discover who those interest groups are, why they are requesting exemptions, and where those requests stand today.
There are over 200 solution providers listed on the FMCSA’s self-certification list. In an effort to find an affordable solution before the December 18, 2017 deadline, many drivers and fleets rushed into purchasing an electronic logging device (ELD). Many of these solutions turned out to be unreliable and non-compliant, or there has been no support from the provider to help the company use their overly-complicated devices.
