In December 2010, the FMCSA launched the Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program. This data-driven safety and compliance enforcement program was designed to improve safety while preventing accidents involving CMVs.

This past weekend, Winter Storm Jonas dumped a lot of snow, upwards of 30 inches in some states. It has wreaked havoc for residents, schools, and businesses, including trucking. Driving in these conditions can be extremely dangerous, if not impossible.
Six states issued hours-of-service waivers for emergency loads in wake of the storm. They are Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Roads were so bad over the weekend that there were drivers who’d been stuck on the PA turnpike for over 16 hours!

Despite the snowy weather last week, BigRoad made it down to La Vista, Nebraska for the first annual Safety Management Council Safety Technology Summit and Exhibition. The Nebraska Trucking Association (NTA) decided to host this event due to the increasing number of regulations facing the trucking industry, most notably the recently released ELD mandate. The number of questions and concerns the NTA has received from members since the release of the mandate has brought light to the need to host an event focused on education and showcasing solutions that will help members on their path to compliance.
