That was the exact statement Paul Kirkland, a driver of 23 years, told his supervisor. You may recognize Paul from his facebook profile, featuring trucking videos and all things rodeo. Several months ago, he found out his new company, Acadiana Energy, exclusively use electronic logs (eLogs) and have been for the past couple years.

As a long time paper log user, he was not interested in the least to switch over to this new electronic format.

It’s a Convoy!

This, combined with an aging workforce, has led to a driver shortage that could cripple the industry and it shows no signs of letting up any time soon.

In the last couple of decades, we have seen that truckers are, on average, getting older. The average age of a truck driver is higher than other industries with a disproportionate number of drivers falling between the ages of 45-64.

How to Winterize Your Truck

 

This past weekend, Winter Storm Jonas dumped a lot of snow, upwards of 30 inches in some states. It has wreaked havoc for residents, schools, and businesses, including trucking. Driving in these conditions can be extremely dangerous, if not impossible.

Six states issued hours-of-service waivers for emergency loads in wake of the storm. They are Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Roads were so bad over the weekend that there were drivers who’d been stuck on the PA turnpike for over 16 hours!

Winter is unavoidable for many of us. In trucking, it’s very important to be safe and prepared during the winter season, because a lot can change in 24 hours. Here are our tips on winterizing your truck and being ready with whatever nature throws at you.
