Canadian ELD Mandate Update, Where are we at?

October 19, 2021,

The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada hosted a Webinar, Canadian ELD Mandate Update, where are we at?

I had the honor and privilege of representing Fleet Complete/BigRoad as a Panelist for a Webinar hosted by Mike Millian, CEO of the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC).

The event was especially special given that I was sitting among a peer of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) experts that service the marketplace throughout North America.

It was a candid discussion that covered where the Canadian transportation industry is with respect to the Canada ELD mandate.

The session started with an introduction to ELD’s in Canada, what are the current timeline issues, potential compliance challenges for motor carriers and drivers, what are the specific ‘Made in Canada’ exemptions to the ELD rule, and what potential enforcement approach safety officials in the provinces and territories may adopt.

Each Panelist was then given the opportunity to answer a range of questions from the PMTC and participants in the Webinar on what motor carriers and their drivers can do as best practices to facilitate a smooth transition of their fleet with Canadian ELD certified devices by the June 12, 2022 full ELD enforcement date.
