It’s summer, and that means it’s the season of jamborees, truck shows, and fundraisers. Truckers will come out to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones all across the country this summer. Here are some events you don’t want to miss!
Where Trucking “Families” Come Together
There is a lot of change happening in the trucking industry. With the ELD mandate, new rules, and changing regulations, it can quickly feel overwhelming to be a trucker. One thing that hasn’t changed in the industry is the amazing camaraderie and generosity of the trucking community.
Life on the road can be lonely especially during the winter months, but in the summer, the trucking community comes alive through truck shows, jamborees, festivals, and charity events. There are hundreds of events going on this summer throughout the United States and Canada. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree (July 11th-13th) was the first big event to kick off the summer in the US with tens of thousands of visitors pulling into the famous Iowa 80 truck stop for:
- Antique Truck Displays
- Super Trucks Beauty Contest
- Iowa Pork Chop Cookout
- Carnival Games
- Live Music
- Trucker Olympics
- Fireworks
Many of these events include other activities, such as live concerts, Trucker Olympics, and incredible food. Others are more like expos with vendor booths set up, showing off the latest and greatest industry technology and toys. With all these events, how do you choose where to go? 3. Carlisle Truck Nationals (August 4-6, 2017)
The Carlisle Truck Nationals has big rigs, mini trucks, antiques, and more! Monster truck shows, truck themed competitions, and nearly 2,000 trucks on the show field make this event one you won’t want to miss. The Carlisle All-Truck Nationals has a little something for every member of the trucking family!
2. Waupun Truck-N-Show (August 11- 12, 2017)
The Waupun Truck Show sees thousands every year from all over the United States and Canada! Truckers come to show off their rigs and reconnect with old friends. A Friday night parade allows the trucks to show off some stunning lights while a second parade on Saturday afternoon enables the crowds to see the beautiful murals and other works of art on each truck. Another great reason to check out this show is a portion of all the proceeds from this event goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Olympics.
1. Great American Trucking Show (August 11- 12, 2017)
The Great American Trucking Show (GATS) is the show of shows when it comes to truck professionals. More than 500 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees meet at GATS for the betterment of the trucking industry. The show includes educational sessions, the roadhouse run 5KM walk/run, a truck beauty contest and more.

Summer events like these work toward to continuous improvement of the industry as a whole, but also allow truckers to make those all important connections that make that long road ahead a more friendly one!
