If you’re heading down Interstate 70, make the most of your time driving coast to coast. With the Interstate running from Baltimore, Maryland to Cove Fort, Utah there is a ton to see and do! Here’s a list of the best places and attractions along the I-70:

1. Baltimore, Maryland

The I-70 begins just outside Baltimore. If you have some time to spare, try to check out this amazing city! From the incredible harbour and city views, to the countless museums, Baltimore has unlimited things to see and do!

2. Baldwin Station

For a historical experience while grabbing a bite to eat, check out Baldwin Station in Sykesville, Maryland (a small town just off the I-70). The railway station has been transformed into a restaurant, serving a casual lunch menu with delicious burgers and sandwiches!

3. The Coffee Pot

Make a quick stop at the Coffee Pot building located in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Back in the 1920’s they were a popular joint that
served lunch, snacks, and of course coffee. Although they aren’t in business anymore, it
still makes for a great roadside attraction.

4. Clifton Mill

If you’re in the mood for a classic breakfast, make a stop in Clifton at the Clifton Mill. This spot is not only a great stop for a bite to eat, but a good place to relax and take in the views of the waterfall and scenery.

5. Model T Ford Museum

If you’re a fan of automobiles and the history of how they were built, the Model T Ford Museum is located in the historic Richmond Depot District in Richmond, Indiana. The Richmond Depot District is also well known for their pubs and eateries, as well as their history and culture.

 

6. Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Located in the largest city in Indiana, The Indianapolis Motor Speedway attracts hundreds of thousands of fans to the Indianapolis 500 and the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. The Motor Speedway is the largest sports venue in the world. Whether you just drive past, or make a pit stop to get a closer look, this is a must see!

7. Kaskaskia Dragon

Have you ever seen a fire breathing dragon?
Well, now is your chance. Just off the I-70 in
Vandalia, Illinois there is a roadside attraction
called the
Kaskaskia Dragon, when you buy a
token for just 1 dollar you can watch it breathe fire!

 

8. Pappy’s Smokehouse

When you’re driving through St. Louis, Missouri and you start craving some home-style BBQ, head to Pappy’s Smokehouse for a quick bite to eat. They’re well known for their mouthwatering ribs but they serve anything from turkey breast sandwiches to all of your BBQ favourites. To help convince you some more, it’s an order at the window type of restaurant… talk about convenient!

For a unique experience, pay a visit to the place where water stops flowing towards the Atlantic Ocean and to the Pacific Ocean instead. The Continental Divide, also known as the “Great Divide” is located in Colorado. If you have time to spare, hike up to the mark and take in the views of the mountains. 

 

10. Cove Fort, Utah

This is where your road trip on the I-70 ends. While you’re here though, take a moment to visit the historical monuments Cove Fort has to offer. If you want to stray a little further, Utah is filled with beautiful national parks such as Zion National Park, or Canyonlands National Park.
