#TBT: Highlights from NASTC’s 2015 Annual Conference

#TBT- NASTC DRIVER OF THE YEAR WINNER (2).png

The BigRoad team is enroute (via plane this time) to the 26th Annual National Association of Small Trucking Companies (NASTC) Conference being held in Nashville, Tennessee. This marks the fifth year that we’ve participated in the event. Let’s take a look back at the highlights from 2015 including BigRoad user, Lonnie Brice, being recognized as a NASTC Driver of the Year!

Highlights from the 2015 Annual Conference

The BigRoad team packed into our Dodge Ram and hit the road bright and early to make the 11.5 hour drive down to Nashville, Tenneessee. In addition to our staff, we had a film crew follow us down to capture the highlights of the 25th Annual NASTC Conference.  Let’s take a look at what happened!

Driver of the Year Awards

NASTC2015.jpgNASTC’s Driver of the Year program sheds light on the unsung heros of the road that are responsible for keeping America moving. Members are encouraged to nominate their best driver(s) for the award as a way to recognize their hard work and show appreciation.

This award program is a great way to recognize the individual driver and let others (employees, customers, public, etc.) know that your company is proud of the safe, quality people you employ.

When determining their annual winners, NASTC looks at: the number of miles driven in the last year, number of accident free miles, time without an account, total number of years driving and additional information provided by the nominator.

Congratulations Lonnie Brice

LonnieDriverOfTheYear-1.jpegIn 2015, Krystal Raue of Triple R Trucking LLC nominated her driver and BigRoad user, Lonnie Brice. There are many reasons why Krystal nominated Lonnie beyond the number of miles he has driven and years in the industry – he’s an all-around great person!

“He will help drivers no matter where they are broken down – even if it’s not Triple R folks! His willingness to lend a helping hand to me, to our drivers, to our community, well, I don’t know what I would do without him,” said Krystal. “I started crying when I found out Lonnie had won! I was so happy for him. He so deserves it!”

Lonnie has been driving for over 44 years and has accumulated an astonishing 5.5 million accident-free miles on the road! When we asked Lonnie about how he felt about winning this award he simply said, “I just never expected to be acknowledged.”

His response speaks volumes and we’re thankful that NASTC takes the time to recognize the accomplishments of drivers. You can read more about Lonnie’s story by visiting our post from last year.
