Refresh Your Rig: Get The Most Out Of Your Spring Cleaning

Get the most out of your spring cleaning.png

Maintaining your vehicle through winter can be tough. The cold temperatures, driving conditions, and salt on the roads all affect how your vehicle looks and runs. Now that winter is behind us and spring is here, it’s time to refresh your rig! Get your truck in tip top shape by following these three steps.

1. Start with the Interior

good shape. When your truck is clean
and well maintained it shows a great deal of professionalism, and it also makes driving
more pleasant. When you get around to your
spring cleaning, here are some helpful tips:

  • After a long winter, your mats may be a little worn out and dirty. Try giving them a deep cleaning, or even invest in some fresh mats for the new season.
  • Give the floors a good vacuum and make sure to get under the seats, where a lot of dust and dirt gets trapped (goodbye, last month’s fallen fries!).
  • Take a damp cloth and wipe down the interior including the dashboard, doors, handles, and steering wheel. If you like to use cleaning products on your dashboard, make sure you don’t use anything with a glossy finish or it can limit visibility when it’s bright outside.
  • Use disinfectant wipes to clean out cupholders, vents, and any other compartments in your vehicle.
  • Your windshield and windows should always be free of dirt and grime. Keeping a spray bottle of vinegar and water is a simple solution to ensure your windows are always clean.
  • After cleaning out the garbage, keep a garbage bag or a small bin in your truck so that garbage doesn’t accumulate over time.

2. Make the Most Out of Your Space

Good organization is crucial in small spaces. When you have an organization system in place it keeps things out of your way, and you will always know where your belongings are when you need them. It also makes the inside of your vehicle feel less cluttered and your space feel larger. Here are some ideas so that you can make the most of your space:

  • Invest in storage containers for your different items.
  • Separate your items by food, tools, cleaning supplies and any other items you may keep on hand.
  • Utilize the different compartments already in your vehicle. For example, if you have a sleeper, store things under the bed so that the boxes will stay out of your way.

3. Give the Exterior a Detailed Cleaning

  • Hand washing is always the best method for a deep clean. Pressure washing can sometimes be harsh on your paint and doesn’t allow you to get those hard to reach places. Try using a sponge and an extendable brush so that you can reach all of the nooks and crannies.
  • Make sure your mud flaps look the same and are cleaned off well.
  • Use warm, soapy water on the tires and try to avoid petroleum-based chemicals because they can harm the rubber. Debris that remains on the tires can start to deteriorate the rubber so it’s important that you give them a good wash.
  • After a detailed wash, use wax on the truck and the chrome areas for a more polished look, and to make it easier to clean next time.
