Most fleets and drivers didn’t know that the use of automatic onboard recording devices (AOBRDs) had been grandfathered under the ELD mandate. 3. What You Need to Know About Cargo Securement – May 16, 2017
From June 6-8, inspectors across North America pulled commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) aside to conduct compliance, enforcement, and educational initiatives during the 2017 International Roadcheck program.
During International Roadcheck, inspectors primarily be conducted North American Standard Level I Inspections. A Level I Inspection is an extremely comprehensive examination of both the driver and the vehicle.

7. Update on ELD Mandate Exemptions – November 26, 2017
As the ELD mandate quickly approached, people still had a lot of questions about the rules and regulations. One of the most common question people had was if the ELD mandate applied to them or if they were exempt from the rule.
In most cases, if you are currently required to keep a record of duty status (RODS), you are required to comply with the mandate and have a compliant ELD or AOBRD installed in your vehicle by the December 18, 2017 ELD mandate deadline.
