Nomination Process
To celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW), BigRoad held its first Big Rig Rockstar Contest where anyone could nominate a rockstar truck driver. Over the two week acceptance period we received a number of nominations, all expressing appreciation and admiration for the work that truck drivers do. At BigRoad, we were especially touched by the truck drivers’ dedication, work ethic, and kindness.

Given the number of fantastic nominees, it was hard to choose a winner. After much deliberation, we chose the truck driver who truly exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding driver.
We’re happy to announce that Rusty Hockett is our first place winner and BigRoad’s Big Rig Rockstar of 2017! He was nominated by Paul Mussman.
Paul shared with us why he nominated Rusty:
Rusty Hockett is a true testament to what we all try to do as drivers. He goes above and beyond in his responsibilities as a driver to make sure that he and his equipment are always safe while on the road, driving among our loved ones who share the road with us.
As a military veteran and single dad, Hockett understands and lives by the creed to get the job done, but also to get back home safe for his loved ones. He employs this same code to all those on the road. Hockett continues, each and every day, to share his knowledge and experience with others, and has helped numerous other operators become better and more prepared for their individual situations.
When it comes to rules, regulations, permits and requirements, Hockett does not complain. He does the research and ensures that he and his equipment always follow the law.
Driving a truck down the road is not Hockett’s job – it is his career, and he dedicates his entire moral being to it when he gets behind the wheel. There are no short cuts or easy fixes for Hockett. He is the real deal and helps us all get back home when he can.
