The latest Android update, 4.0.4, is now available in the Google Play store. Make sure you update to the latest version of the app to take advantage of all the latest features. Here are some of the new features we’ve added since the last BigRoad update.
First up, we’ve added the 16-hour “big day” exception per § 395.1(o). The 16-hour exemption is available for:
- property-carrying drivers,
- who return to the driver’s normal work location and are released from duty at that location for the previous five duty tours the driver worked,
- and on the day they are claiming the exemption the driver returned to the normal work reporting location and is released from duty within 16 hours after coming on-duty for their duty tour,
- and the driver has not taken this exemption within the previous six consecutive days, or unless the driver has reset their cycle hours
For the day where you use the exemption, your duty tour, which starts after 10 consecutive hours off-duty, is extended from the usual 14 hours to 16 hours.
If you qualify for this exception, you can quickly select it by going to ‘Daily Logs’, and by ‘Cycle’, select the ‘Rules’ button to open up the ‘Hours of Service’ rules screen.
Another feature we’ve added to the latest version is a provision for a 30-minute break exemption under a current state or federal waiver. This is used by drivers carrying livestock where taking a 30-minute break could be detrimental to the welfare of the animals.
Here’s one is for Canadian drivers: as your DVIRs have to been signed when they are complete, i.e. at the start of the day, you now have the ability to sign your DVIR separately without also signing your daily log.
We’ve also made a number of smaller improvements to ensure BigRoad continues to give you the best electronic log experience. Stay tuned to our blog to learn more about future updates.
